The Omni New Orleans headquarters hotel project continues to advance through the City of New Orleans public approval and entitlement process following a series of recent actions by local boards, commissions and advisory bodies.

–  On January 15, 2026, the Convention Center and Omni Hotels & Resorts held a public meeting as part of the Neighborhood Participation Program.

–  On March 11, the Central Business District Historic District & Landmarks Commission (CBD HDLC) approved demolition requests for structures located on the proposed hotel site.

–  Later that month, on March 25, the New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority Economic Growth & Development District approved the project’s Cooperative Endeavor Agreement to create a hotel sub-district.

–  On April 8, the City Planning Commission (CPC) Advisory Committee voted to advance the proposed street transfer request with provisos for consideration by the full CPC. The CPC later approved the project’s zoning requests on April 14.

–  On May 6, CBD HDLC approved the hotel design with provisions to continue discussions related to architectural and design elements as the project moves forward.

–  On May 12, the CPC approved the acquisition of John Churchill Chase Street associated with the proposed development.

–  In addition, the Design Advisory Committee recognized the project’s updated design on May 20 and set the discussion for its June 17 meeting for continued refinement.

These actions represent important milestones in the public review process for the proposed Omni New Orleans headquarters hotel, which is designed to strengthen New Orleans’ competitiveness for conventions, meetings and major events.

Additional requests related to demolition and zoning are expected to advance to the New Orleans City Council later this year as the project continues through the remaining stages of the City approval process.
